Connor Hannon slaps the hat trick while Houghton strong on D to achieve victory on the road

Houghton triumphed over Calumet Copper Kings 8 - 3 at MTU - Student Ice Arena on Thursday. Houghton outscored Calumet Copper Kings seven to two to jump in to the lead at the end of the first period. Calumet Copper Kings failed to take the lead in the second period even though they scored one goal. Houghton never looked back. In the final period Houghton scored one goal sealing the deal and winning the game.

Showing strong scoring ability, Connor Hannon got the hat trick with three goals and also two assists. In well played offense, Casey Markham scored two goals for Houghton in addition to two assists. Luke Haataja, Raymond Brice, and Jed Kallio each tallied one goal for Houghton.

Houghton's Jayson Wiitala made 23 saves to get the win. Two goaltenders were in the crease for Calumet Copper Kings's loss. Calumet Copper Kings's Brian Rogers had 33 saves. Calumet Copper Kings's Troy Pierce turned away six shots and got the loss.

Houghton extended their winning streak to four games and now has a record of 21 wins and 5 losses. Calumet Copper Kings finished the game with a record of 16-10.
