TRENTON - Houghton defeated Dow High 6-0 on Saturday morning in nonleague hockey at the Trenton Showcase at Kennedy Recreation Center.
The Gremlins scored one goal in the first period, three in the second, and two in the third.
Jeremy Slasor made 17 saves in goal for the Chargers.
"Houghton has a strong team and outplayed us for the most part, but the score is somewhat misleading," said Dow coach Dick Blasy, whose team is 12-7. "We played hard and competed for most of the game, and much of the play was even. We just could not get a bounce or a break, and Houghton did a great job of capitalizing on our mistakes."
Dow plays Midland High on Wednesday at the Midland Civic Arena.
