The Chargers rode into Bay City after a 12-day holiday lay-off for an SVL match-up with the Wolves on Wednesday night. Despite the rust produced by the long break, the Chargers managed a 3-0 win.
Flint opened the scoring in the first period at 3:35 on a goal by junior forward Keigan Wildfong, his first of the season. Assists to junior forward Christian Wentworth and senior defenseman Jake Polakowski on the Wildfong tally. 1-0 Powers at the end of the first.
In the second period, senior defenseman Hans Hering notched his first goal of the season at 9:12. Hering was assisted by senior forwards Conor Witherspoon and Brendan Smith. 2-0 Powers at the end of two.
In the third, with Powers on the power play, Conor Witherspoon one-timed a Brendan Smith pass from the bottom of the right circle past the netminder to make it 3-0 in favor of Powers. Jake Polakowski had the other assist on the Witherspoon goal.
Adam Cantley pitched his second consecutive shut-out for the Chargers.
Next up for Flint Powers is another road game against Chelsea on Saturday.
