Troy scored three consecutive goals and then held off Dow High on Friday, edging the host Chargers 3-2 in nonleague hockey. The Colts are ranked sixth in Division 1.

Dow drew first blood with a goal from Brendan Holbrook in the first period, assisted by Shane Astrike and Jon Baillargeon.

Troy went on the tie the score later in the first period and added two more goals in the second period to carry a 3-1 lead into the third.

A goal from Astrike in the third, assisted by Brendan Sanders and Joey Johnson, provided the final margin.

Dow coach Dick Blasy said his team started flat but played stronger as the game went on.

“Troy is a strong skating team,” he said. “They had more jump than we did and were winning more battles. We got stronger as the game went on. I thought we’d tie it up. We had chances to, but we just couldn’t get that third goal to cross the goal line.”

Jeremy Slasor recorded 21 saves in goal for Dow, as the Colts outshot the Chargers 24-23.

Dow (6-6) hosts the Tri-Valley Titans next Friday.
