Forest Hills Central hockey made a quick turnaround after an emotional overtime win last night taking on a Grandville team who has made 3 consecutive trips to the State semi finals. Grandville came out flying taking control of the game early but Ranger Netminder Drake Deering made some keys saves keeping the game scoreless. FHC would strike first as Nick Sarjeant found the back of the net after taking a nice pass from Nicko Withey to beat Grandville Netminder Alex Michnick for a 1-0 Ranger lead. FHC would keep the momentum scoring the next two goals as Connor Foresman scored a Power Play goal with assists going to brothers Nick and Hayden Sarjeant. FHC would capitalize and score their second power play goal as Jack Bowling one timed a perfect pass from Nicko Withey to increase the lead to 3-0. Grandville would not go away quietly as Zach Tykocki intercepted a cross ice pass to beat Drake Deering on a breakaway to close the gap to 3-1 one minute into the 3rd period. Both goalies made key saves and with 1:30 left in the game FHC took a penalty and Grandville pulled their goalie for a 6 on 4 advantage. FHC’s Nick Sarjeant was able to clear the puck the length of the ice into an open net after taking a pass from Zack Morton for a 4-1 FHC victory. FHC improves to 11-1-1 on the season. Drake Deering earned the victory making 27 saves.
