BRADY STEBBINS BUILDS A WALL

The Flint Powers Chargers hosted Riverview Gabriel Richard at the Crystal Field House Wednesday night. The Chargers were victorious in the abbreviated contest, winning by a score of 8 to 0.

For the first ten minutes or so, Gabriel Richard’s goaltender, Drew Adams was lights out as he stopped numerous Powers scoring opportunities. However, at 9:22, senior forward Brendan Smith broke the ice and got one past Mr. Adams with assistance from senior defenseman Jake Polakowski and sophomore forward Luke Evo. The teams would go to intermission with Powers up 1-0.

Following recent form, the Chargers exploded for six goals in the second period. At 14:22, junior forward Keigan Wildfong scored the first of his two goals with the assistance of senior forward Jon Thomas and senior defenseman Garrett Johnson. Less than two minutes later, at 12:44, Wildfong struck again with the able assistance of Jon Thomas and senior forward Conor Witherspoon. 3-0 Powers. Just over two minutes later, junior forward Sam Lechel joined the goal scorer’s club. Mr. Lechel was assisted by junior forward Cam Lieffers and goaltender Brady Stebbins. Roughly three minutes later, Garret Johnson found the back of the net with the help of Jon Thomas (playmaker) and Conor Witherspoon. At 6:33, Conor Witherspoon illuminated the red light with a goal. He was assisted by Brendan Smith and Luke Evo. At 1:54, Conor Witherspoon scored his second goal of the game. Senior defenseman Hans Hering and Brendan Smith assisted on Witherspoon’s second goal. 7-0 in favor of Powers at the end of two.

Forward Luke Evo sent the crowd home early with Powers’ eighth goal at 11:23 of the third. Brendan Smith and Jake Polakowski assisted on Evo’s game-ender.

Shout out to senior goaltender Brady Stebbins for his second assist of the season and for pitching the shut-out.

Next up, Powers will host the Farmington Falcons at the Crystal Field House on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
