Rangers Crowned 2016-17 OK Conference Tier 1 Champions With 8-4 Victory Over Reeths-Puffer

In a OK Conference Tier 1 Tilt 1st Place Forest Hills Central hosted 2nd place Muskegon Reeths Puffer. In their previous meeting Forest Hills Central came out on top 3-2 in a tightly contested game.

Forest Hills Central would jump out to an early 4-0 lead as Nicko Withey would score the first goal of the game with assists going to Jack Bowling and Zak Currie. A few minutes later Connor Foresman would extend the lead to after taking a nice pass from Nick Sarjeant beating Reeths Puffer netminder Tim Egeler. Jacob Demeter would extend the lead to 3-0 after being set up from Charlie Brewer and Nick Schipani. Minutes later Zak Currie would beat the Reeths Puffer netminder after taking a beautiful pass from Nick Schipani in a game that looked like FHC was in cruise control.

Reeths Puffer would not go away gently and scored the next two goals to close the gap to 4-2. Both teams would trade goals late in the period as Mackey Withey one timed a shot from the point after being set up from Nick Sarjeant and Connor Foresman as FHC would go into the 2nd period leading 5-3.

Mackey Withey would strike again in the 2nd period extending the FHC lead to 6-3 with assists going to Zak Currie and twin brother Nicko Withey. Reeths Puffer would score with 11 seconds go in the 2nd go head into the 3rd period with FHC leading 6-4.

In the 3rd period FHC would get back to defensive minded hockey as Jack Bowling would score the teams 7th goal of the game with assists going to Zak Currie and Mackey Withey. Connor Foresman would close out the game with FHC’s 8th goal for a 8-4 Ranger victory.

With the win Forest Hills Central claims the 2016-17 OK Conference Tier 1 Regular Season Title and improves to 9-0 in Conference play, 19-1-2 overall on the season. Drake Deering earned the win in net for the Rangers.
