The Tryouts for the Michigan Development Hockey League (MDHL) have been announced. The tryouts were slated to take place the first weekend in August, but have been pushed back to the 2nd weekend as to accommodate and support the Meijer State Games of Michigan which takes place Aug 3-6. The MDHL felt it was best to support the players, coaches and staff from across the state who participate in this. Therefore... the tryout dates will be
Goalie Sessions: Aug 9th and 10th at the Plymouth Cultural Center.
Tryout Session: Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Wallace Arena on the campus of Cranbrook.
The MDHL has been around for a number of years and is Michigan High School Hockey's longest running fall elite program. HS Asst and North American League (NAHL) Scout, Kyle Zagata commented "The MDHL is a great avenue for elite high school hockey players to challenge themselves and develop their skills in a team setting. The festival-like atmosphere at the Plymouth Cultural Center every Saturday in the fall is second to none. It is a great showcase for the High School Hockey community". Another top hockey coach and scout for top Jr teams stated ""Everyone tries to emulate the MDHL model, but the history and tradition over the last 15 years speaks volumes. The success stories and the 100's of MDHL Alumni playing at higher levels (JR, NCAA, professional) is a testament to the hard work and success of the league. "
