Team Michigan Seniors Wins the CCM NIT Championship, Defeating North Dakota 5-2

The Team Michigan Seniors captured the 2023 NIT Championship on Sunday, defeating North Dakota 5-2, capping off a 4-0 run at the annual showcase.

Team Michigan's Senior team defeated North Dakota 5-2 to win the CCM NIT Championship for the 2nd time in NIT history. Team Michigan's Seniors had 2 goals from Gaborik Carlson (Houghton, Committed to Grand Prairie, AJHL) as well as goals from Braden Pietila (Hartland) Landon Stevens (Hougton, Committed to Odessa, NAHL) and Camden Markham (Houghton, Committed to Wisconsin, NAHL) Nick Kutriak (Flint Powers) made 29 saves en route to the win. 

On their path to the CCM NIT Championship in Plymouth, MN, Team Michigan Seniors defeated Team Colorado 3-0, the Minnesota HP-18 team 4-3, and the Wisconsin Seniors 4-3. 

"Our players did the ultimate job of representing our state both on and off the ice. The results validates what many of us already know - that Michigan High School hockey is filled with tremendously talented student-athletes." said Head Coach of the Team Michigan Seniors Ryan Ossemacher (Head Coach, Northville)  Sean Clark (De La Salle) and Rick Gadwa (Hartland) were assistant coaches on the staff. Don Wright (Retired, Chelsea) is the GM of Team Michigan. 

The CCM NIT is held annually and is a scouting showcase in Plymouth, MN that features some of the best high school players from Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. Full tournament game results and statistics are here
