2026 Rick Deneweth Memorial Showcase Kicks Off This Weekend

TRAVERSE CITY - Traverse City will once again be the center of Michigan High School Hockey this weekend as the 2026 Rick Deneweth Memorial Showcase takes over Centre Ice Arena from January 8–10. Hosted by the Bay Reps, the annual event brings together top programs from across the state for three days of highly competitive matchups and community celebration.

The showcase began in 2013 as the North/South Showcase, designed to highlight head-to-head competition between Northern Michigan teams and programs from the southern part of the state. In 2016, the event was renamed in memory of Rick Deneweth, a Traverse City local who passed away suddenly prior to that year’s event. His legacy continues through an event that emphasizes sportsmanship, high-level competition, and a shared love of the game.

Over the years, the Rick Deneweth Memorial Showcase has grown into one of the premier events in Michigan High School Hockey, attracting many of the state’s top teams and becoming a destination weekend for players, families, and fans alike. Adding to the excitement this year, select games will be broadcast live on the State Champs! Network, allowing hockey fans across Michigan to tune in and be part of the action.
