Pinckney Squeaks Past Fraser 8-7

Michael Salata shines with two goals and Pinckney scores three goals in the third to prevail

Cooper Jenkins scored the game-winning goal with 4:56 left in the third period, as Pinckney defeated Fraser 8 - 7 at Wexford Ice Arena on Friday. Pinckney outscored Fraser two to one to take the lead at the end of the first period. In the middle period, Fraser outscored Pinckney four to three to tie things up. The end of the second period saw both teams at five goals a piece. In the final period, Pinckney outscored Fraser three to two and took the lead to claim the late win.

Pinckney's Michael Salata netted two goals for Pinckney. Getting started, Salata put the puck between the pipes in the second period with assists from Brandon Okurowski and Mark Janiga. Pinckney kept going when Salata put the biscuit into the net for a power play goal in the second period. Cody Nikkila assisted on this goal. Pinckney's Nolan Lefebvre netted two goals for Pinckney and also had one assist. During the first period, Lefebvre put the puck between the pipes with an assist from Pat Rogowski. Pinckney found more success on the ice when Lefebvre lit the lamp in the second period. Cooper Jenkins got the assist on this goal. Cooper Jenkins and Sean O'Rourke each added one goal for Pinckney.

Two goalies were in the crease for Pinckney's win. Pinckney's Shane Polich had only 25 saves on 30 shots on goal. Pinckney's Brandon Dolan stopped five out of seven shots to earn the win.

This was the first game of the season for Fraser but Pinckney entered the game with a record of 0-1.
