Marquette Redmen Loses To Novi Wildcats 2-1

Mark Baker leads the way with two goals and Novi Wildcats puts the squeeze on shooters to win the game

In a defensive battle, Novi Wildcats won against Marquette Redmen 2 - 1 at Lakeview Arena on Sunday. Neither team managed to get the puck in the net in the first period. Novi Wildcats took the lead in the second period with one unanswered goal. Both teams scored one goal in the third period but Novi Wildcats kept the lead for the win.

In the second period, Novi Wildcats put points on the board when Mark Baker got an unassisted goal with 3:13 left in the period. Novi Wildcats was now out in front for good. In the third period, Novi Wildcats kept up the momentum when Baker did it again and lit the lamp yet again with assists from Chris Kennedy and Brad Hofelich, with 11:37 left on the clock, adding to their lead. Marquette Redmen charged back when Cam Pace put the biscuit over the goal line with 2:38 left in the period. Ryan Verigin got the assist on the goal.

Contributing to the win for Novi Wildcats, Mark Baker netted two goals for Novi Wildcats. Hofelich and Kennedy each tallied one assist for Novi Wildcats.

Showing off a strong glove, Novi Wildcats's Austin Petty had 29 saves on 30 shots to earn the win.

Novi Wildcats ended their streak of five losing games and ended the game with a record of 5 wins and 8 losses. Marquette Redmen finished the game with a record of 0-3.
