Sam Kaser connects for a goal and East Grand Rapids goes on the defensive to get the win

East Grand Rapids prevailed over GR Catholic Central 4 - 1 at Patterson Ice Center on Friday. East Grand Rapids and GR Catholic Central both scored one goal to end the first period tied. East Grand Rapids gained two unanswered goals in the second period to break the tie and take the lead. East Grand Rapids never looked back. In the final period East Grand Rapids scored one goal padding its lead and winning the game.

In the first period, East Grand Rapids got things going when Jordan Sanford got a goal with assists from Peter Stewart and Travis Baranoski, with 10:15 left in the period. Pushing back, GR Catholic Central's Spencer Wierda put the biscuit over the goal line with assists from Jeff Gorski and Danny Shea, with 8:16 left on the clock, to make the game tied. In the second period, however then East Grand Rapids's Sam Kaser lit the lamp with an assist from Nate Keller, with 13:45 left on the clock, to get ahead at 2-1. This put East Grand Rapids ahead for good. East Grand Rapids turned up the pressure when Graham Dowling got the puck in the goal with 1:23 left in the period. Noah Salasky got the assist on the goal, to pull further ahead. In the third period, next, Travis Baranoski put the biscuit over the goal line with an assist from Nick Faturos with 16:00 left in the period, moving further into the lead.

Travis Baranoski scored one goal for East Grand Rapids and also had one assist. Sam Kaser, Graham Dowling, and Jordan Sanford each tallied one goal for East Grand Rapids. Faturos, Salasky, Keller, and Stewart each added one assist for East Grand Rapids.

Spencer Wierda tallied one goal for GR Catholic Central.

Showing a super performance, East Grand Rapids's Steven Longfellow made 21 saves to gain the win. GR Catholic Central's Paul Broadbent blocked 26 out of 29 shots on goal to suffer the loss.

East Grand Rapids ended up with a record of 7 wins and 5 losses. GR Catholic Central finished the game with a record of 2 wins and 7 losses.
