In a hard fought match up, Painesdale Jeffers beat L'Anse 7 - 5 at New Years Tournament on Saturday. Painesdale Jeffers outscored L'Anse two to one to jump in to the lead at the end of the first period. In the second period, Painesdale Jeffers outscored L'Anse four to one and kept the lead. In the last period L'Anse outscored Painesdale Jeffers 3 to 1 however Painesdale Jeffers kept its lead, and won the game.

Two goalies were in the crease for L'Anse's loss. L'Anse's Jason Rank stopped 15 out of 18 shots for the loss. L'Anse's Michael Turunen blocked nine out of 13 shots on goal to suffer the loss.
