Houghton Gets Huge Win Against L'Anse 9-1

Jed Kallio connects for a hat trick while Houghton strong on the ice to win handily

Leaving their opponents in the dust, Houghton handed a loss to L'Anse 9 - 1 at meadowbrook arena on Monday. Houghton scored three goals to jump in to the lead in the first period. As the second period unfolded, Houghton outscored L'Anse four to one and kept the lead. The Houghton defense took over in the final period. In the final period Houghton scored two goals adding to the margin of victory and winning the game.

Turning in a great performance for Houghton, Jed Kallio scored the hat trick with three goals. Putting their initial points on the board, Kallio got a power play goal in the second period with assists from Raymond Brice and Connor Hannon. During the second period, Kallio put the puck between the pipes for a power play goal with assists from Zack Verran and Raymond Brice. Continuing their roll, Kallio netted another goal in the third period with assists from Jonathan Bostwick and Cale Markham. Having a huge day, Raymond Brice got two goals for Houghton as well as four helpers. Houghton's Brice put the puck in the net in the first period with an assist from Cole Jepsen. Houghton's fate was sealed. Brice lit the lamp without assistance from team mates. Connor Hannon, Austin Erva, Jonathan Bostwick, and Cale Markham each added one goal for Houghton.

Houghton's Jayson Wiitala made nine saves to get the win. L'Anse's Jason Rank had only 52 saves on 61 shots on goal to get the loss.

L'Anse finished the game with a record of 2-6.
