Ben Schwartzfisher is key with a goal, Petoskey clamps down to get the narrow win

Ben Schwartzfisher scored the game winner with 11:19 left in the first period, as Petoskey overcame Cadillac 3 - 2 at Griffin Arena on Friday. Petoskey outscored Cadillac two to one to take the lead at the end of the first period. Petoskey gained one unanswered goal in the second period and held on to its lead. Cadillac failed to take the lead in the third period even though they scored one goal, and ended up losing the game.

In the first period, Cadillac's Tyler Thomas scored an unassisted goal, with 16:34 left on the clock. In reply, Petoskey's Derek Smith got the puck in the goal with 15:42 left in the period. Tanner Davis assisted on the goal, tying the score. Piling on, Ben Schwartzfisher scored a goal with an assist from Kevin Hansen, with 11:19 left in the period, to get ahead at 2-1. This sealed the victory for Petoskey. In the second period, airing out the defense, Ken Forton put the puck in the net without assistance with 3:26 left in the period, to get further ahead. In the third period, pushing back, Cadillac's Tyler Thomas put the biscuit over the goal line with 12:42 left on the clock. Patrick Briggs assisted on the goal.

Ben Schwartzfisher, Ken Forton, and Derek Smith each added one goal for Petoskey. Davis and Hansen each contributed one assist for Petoskey.

Turning in a good performance, Tyler Thomas made two goals for Cadillac.

Petoskey's Breanna Merriam made 17 saves to gain the win. Cadillac's PJ Nemish blocked 20 out of 23 shots on goal for the loss.

Petoskey now has a record of 9 wins and 7 losses. Cadillac finished the game with a record of 7 wins and 9 losses.
