Petoskey Runs Over Cheboygan 9-3

Skye Pieffer is key with two goals and Petoskey a defensive stronghold to win by a wide margin

Winning by a large margin, Petoskey won against Cheboygan 9 - 3 at Griffin Arena on Wednesday. Petoskey scored three goals to jump in to the lead in the first period. In the middle period, Petoskey outscored their opponents by four goals and kept the lead. In the final period Cheboygan outscored their opponents by one goal however Petoskey kept its lead, and won the game.

Petoskey's Skye Pieffer netted two goals for Petoskey. Coming through for Petoskey, Pieffer netted a goal in the second period with assists from Luke Pomranke and Kevin Hansen. Piling on, Pieffer put the biscuit over the goal line in the third period with an assist from Tanner Davis. Petoskey's Ken Forton netted two goals for Petoskey. Getting started, Forton scored a goal without any assistance in the first period. Petoskey kept up the momentum when Forton got another goal in the second period with an assist from Aaron Cook. Petoskey's Kevin Hansen netted two goals for Petoskey and also had one point. Hansen got a goal. Aaron Cook assisted on this goal. Petoskey was ahead from then on. Hansen put the puck between the pipes for a power play goal with assists from Aaron Cook and Ben Schwartzfisher. Ben Schwartzfisher, Tanner Davis, and Aaron Cook each added one goal for Petoskey.

Petoskey's Michael Whittaker stopped 21 out of 24 shots to take the win.

Petoskey extended their winning streak to three games and ended the game with a record of 9-7. Cheboygan ended the game with a record of 3 wins and 4 losses.
