Howell Beaten By Clarkston 5-1

Jacob LaPorte leads the way with two goals as Clarkston clamps down to get the win on the road

Clarkston prevailed over Howell 5 - 1 at Grand Oaks on Thursday. Clarkston outscored Howell two to one to take the lead at the end of the first period. Clarkston gained one goal in the second period and held on to its lead. Clarkston's defense shut down Howell for the rest of the game. In the final period Clarkston scored two goals sealing the deal and winning the game.

In the first period, Clarkston got points on the board with their power play game when Joe Smith netted a goal with assists from Chase Wiedemann and Adam Johns with 6:15 left in the period. This put Clarkston ahead for good. Clarkston fired up their game when Matt Denny scored an unassisted goal with 4:23 left in the period, to move further ahead. In the second period, firing more artillery, Clarkston's Jacob LaPorte got a goal with assists from Joe Smith and Chase Wiedemann with 6:32 left in the period, to go further ahead. In the third period, in addition, Garrett Polish scored a goal with 16:25 left on the clock. Jacob LaPorte and Adam Johns assisted on the goal, to go further ahead. Clarkston turned up their power play game when Jacob LaPorte got a goal with assists from Chase Wiedemann and Adam Johns with 1:02 left in the period, going further ahead.

Turning in a good performance, Jacob LaPorte netted two goals for Clarkston and also had one point. Joe Smith scored one goal for Clarkston and also had one helper. Matt Denny and Garrett Polish each tallied one goal for Clarkston. Adam Johns got three assists. Chase Wiedemann earned three helpers.

Nick Stanko contributed one goal for Howell.

Leading the way for Clarkston, Jack Viazanko finished with 23 saves to gain the win. Two goalies were in the crease for Howell's loss. Howell's Patrick Baldwin had 15 saves on 19 shots and got the loss. Howell's Chris Julian finished with four saves.

Clarkston continued their current win streak of three games and ended up with a record of 9-7. Howell finished the game with a record of 6 wins and 10 losses.
