John Linenger slams a hat trick while Traverse City West out defends to prevail

Traverse City West handed a loss to Gaylord 5 - 2 at Otsego County Sportsplex on Friday. Neither team managed to get the puck in the net in the first period. In the second, the offenses finally got going when Traverse City West outscored Gaylord four to two and took the lead. Traverse City West's defense shut down Gaylord for the rest of the game. In the final period Traverse City West scored one goal piling on and winning the game.

Having a huge impact in the game for Traverse City West, John Linenger made the hat trick with three goals. During the second period, Linenger put the biscuit over the goal line for a power play goal with assists from Jake Saxton and Collin Peters. In addition, Linenger scored a second goal in the second period with an assist from Nick Schultz. Adding another score for Traverse City West, Linenger put the biscuit into the net in the third period. Max Jenner and Trevor Franklin assisted on this goal. Max Jenner and Luke Piotrowski each added one goal for Traverse City West.

Showing off a strong glove, Traverse City West's Brendan Lacharite stopped 20 out of 22 shots for the win. Gaylord's Ethan O'dell had only 23 saves on 28 shots on goal and got the loss.

Adding to their victory, Traverse City West went 1-for-6 on power plays. Gaylord went 0-for-4.

Gaylord finished the game with a record of 0-11.
