Troy Athens Shuts Door On Fraser 6-0

Ian Marchand fires the hat trick, Troy Athens goes for offense to shut down the other side

In a shutout game, Troy Athens beat Fraser 6 - 0 at Fraser on Friday. Troy Athens scored four goals to take the lead in the first period. Neither team scored in the second period so Troy Athens retained its lead. The Troy Athens defense took over in the final period. In the final period Troy Athens scored two straight goals cementing the lead and winning the game.

Displaying a great scoring touch, Ian Marchand earned the hat trick with three goals. During the first period, with 5:07 left Marchand got a power play goal with assists from Brad Merola and Cory Faw. With 5:05 left to play in the third period Marchand put the biscuit into the net for a power play goal with assists from Nathan Gurzell and Brad Merola. Adding another score for Troy Athens, Marchand put the puck in the net with 1:54 left in the third period. Kosta Karabetsos assisted on this goal.

Displaying a golden glove, Troy Athens's Jeff Merola turned away 23 shots to take the win. Fraser's A Goalie had just 31 saves on 37 shots to get the loss.

Troy Athens ended up with a record of 6-12. Fraser finished the game with a record of 0-6.
