Berkley Unified Easily Beats Avondale 9-2

Ian Melrose gets two goals, Berkley Unified allows few shots to win decisively

In a blowout game, Berkley Unified handed a loss to Avondale 9 - 2 at Berkley Arena on Friday. Berkley Unified and Avondale both scored one goal to end the first period tied. In the second, Berkley Unified outscored Avondale three to one and took the lead. Berkley Unified's defense shut down Avondale for the rest of the game. In the final period Berkley Unified scored five goals sealing the deal and winning the game.

In well played offense, Ian Melrose scored two goals for Berkley Unified and also two points. Things got going when Berkley Unified's Melrose netted a goal in the second period. Shane Goldberg assisted on this goal. During the third period, Melrose put the biscuit over the goal line for a shorthanded goal. Joey Leider and Shane Goldberg assisted on this goal. Having a great day, Joey Leider scored two goals for Berkley Unified as well as three points. Leider put the puck between the pipes. Keith Waldrup assisted on this goal. In addition, Leider got an unassisted shorthanded goal in the third period. Berkley Unified's Max Dooley netted two goals for Berkley Unified and also had one helper. Putting a first goal on the board, Dooley got a goal in the first period. Joey Leider and Ian Melrose assisted on this goal. Berkley Unified turned up the pressure when Dooley lit the lamp in the second period. Robby Flannery and Joey Leider assisted on this goal. Alex Rawlik, Riley Lenhard, and Curtis Carne each tallied one goal for Berkley Unified.

Berkley Unified's Robbie MacDonald stopped 14 out of 16 shots to earn the win. Avondale's Nick Senkowski had only 38 saves on 47 shots on goal and got the loss.

Berkley Unified now has a record of 18-5. Avondale finished the game with a record of 6-12.
