Clarkston out defends to prevail in a close game

Jacob LaPorte netted the game winner with 4:41 left in the first period, as Clarkston defeated Farmington 3 - 2 at Farmington Ice Arena on Friday. Clarkston racked up one unanswered goal to take the lead in the first period. Clarkston gained one unanswered goal in the second period and held on to its lead. In the third period Farmington outscored Clarkston 2 to 1 however Clarkston kept its lead, and won the game.

In the first period, coming through for Clarkston, Jacob LaPorte put the puck in the net with assists from Garrett Polish and Chase Wiedemann, with 4:41 left in the period. Farmington's fate was sealed. In the second period, Clarkston fired up their game when Garrett Polish put the puck between the pipes with assists from Jacob LaPorte and Chase Wiedemann, with 0:14 left in the period, adding to their lead. In the third period, pushing forward, Clarkston's AJ Kowal scored a goal with an assist from Matt Denny, with 15:24 left in the period, moving further into the lead. Farmington pushed back when Nick Gensheimer lit the lamp with 15:52 left in the period. Drake Cole and Nick Kozoro assisted on the goal. Adding another score for Farmington, Nick Heffron put the puck between the pipes with 8:09 left in the period. Cooper McLean and Roman Firestone assisted on the goal.

Nick Gensheimer and Nick Heffron each contributed one goal for Farmington.

Showing off a strong glove, Clarkston's Jack Viazanko turned away 23 shots for the win. Showing off a strong glove, Farmington's John Lethemon made 36 saves and so suffered the loss.

Farmington finished the game with a record of 9-9.
