East Kentwood Prevails Against East Grand Rapids 3-2 In OT

Trent Bravata is key with two goals, East Kentwood shines on defense to go the distance and win

Trent Bravata scored the game winner with 3:22 left in overtime, as East Kentwood won against East Grand Rapids 3 - 2 at Kentwood Ice Arena on Wednesday. East Kentwood racked up two goals to take the lead in the first period. East Grand Rapids added one goal in the second period but failed to take the lead. East Grand Rapids tied the score in the third period with one goal forcing overtime. In the overtime, East Kentwood scored one unanswered goal to win in the end.

In the first period, East Kentwood made it happen on the ice when Austin Adams lit the lamp without assistance from team mates, with 10:22 left in the period. Pushing forward, East Kentwood's Trent Bravata scored a goal with 0:30 left on the clock. Cam Mowery and Jake Gale got the assists on the goal, to get further in the lead. In the second period, pushing back, East Grand Rapids's Graham Dowling put the biscuit over the goal line without any assistance, with 14:29 left in the period. In the third period, continuing the roll, East Grand Rapids's Jordan Sanford put the puck between the pipes with assists from Matthew Golladay and Peter Stewart, with 10:32 left in the period, evening up the score. In overtime, answering back on the ice, East Kentwood's Trent Bravata scored an unassisted goal with 3:22 left on the clock, to get ahead and win.

Contributing to the win for East Kentwood, Trent Bravata got two goals for East Kentwood. Austin Adams added one goal for East Kentwood. Mowery and Gale each added one assist for East Kentwood.

Graham Dowling and Jordan Sanford each contributed one goal for East Grand Rapids.

Showing a super performance, East Kentwood's Zack Casavant turned away 22 shots to gain the win. Displaying a golden glove, East Grand Rapids's Steven Longfellow stopped 40 shots and so suffered the loss.

East Grand Rapids finished the game with a record of 11-11.
