Drew Casey smashes two goals, Lake Orion shines on defense to get the narrow win

Marc Kerchner netted the game-winning goal with 4:19 left in the first period, as Lake Orion was superior against Birmingham Unified 3 - 2 at DSC-B on Saturday. Lake Orion chalked up two unanswered goals to take the lead in the first period. Both teams chalked up one goal in the second period but Lake Orion kept the lead for the win. Birmingham Unified scored one goal in the third period but it was not enough to close the gap, so they lost the game.

In the first period, Lake Orion got things going when Marc Kerchner lit the lamp with an assist from David Otto with 4:19 left in the period. Lake Orion was ahead from then on. Lake Orion turned up their power play game when Drew Casey put the biscuit over the goal line with an assist from Connor Moesta with 4:36 left on the clock, to move further ahead. In the second period, in reply, Birmingham Unified's Adam Susalla lit the lamp with an assist from Jason Bitker with 10:30 left in the period. Answering back on the ice, Lake Orion's Drew Casey scored a goal with assists from Nolan Page and Connor Moesta with 5:43 left on the clock, going further ahead. In the third period, in response, Birmingham Unified's Kenny Ohanlon put the puck in the net with an assist from Jason Bitker, with 15:03 left in the period.

Contributing to the win for Lake Orion, Drew Casey netted two goals for Lake Orion. Marc Kerchner contributed one goal for Lake Orion. Connor Moesta earned two points. Page and Otto each contributed one assist for Lake Orion.

Having a huge impact in the game, Lake Orion's Rollie Pouget had 28 saves to take the win.

Lake Orion ended their streak of two losing games and ended the game with a record of 9-11. Birmingham Unified finished the game with a record of 11-11.
