Myers DJ slaps the hat trick, Troy Colts shoots often to win on the road

Troy Colts beat Troy Athens 5 - 2 at Great Lakes Arena on Wednesday. Troy Colts outscored Troy Athens two to one to take the lead at the end of the first period. In the second period, Troy Colts outscored their opponents by one goal and kept the lead. It would prove to be too much for Troy Athens. In the final period Troy Colts scored one goal cementing the lead and winning the game.

Having an outstanding day for Troy Colts, Myers DJ got the hat trick with three goals. During the first period, with 7:53 left DJ lit the lamp without assistance from team mates for a power play goal. Piercing though the defense, DJ scored another goal without any assistance with 2:09 left in the first period. Piercing though the defense, DJ put the biscuit into the net with 11:20 left in the third period with assists from Howard Jacob and Urban Bob.

Troy Colts's Fisher Michael stopped 14 shots to take the win. Troy Athens's Jeff Merola had just 25 saves on 30 shots to get the loss.

Adding to their victory, Troy Colts went 1-for-9 on power plays. Troy Athens went 0-for-6.

Troy Athens ended the game with a record of 8 wins and 16 losses.
