Grand Blanc shuts down shooters to go the distance and win on the road

ALEX PORTER netted the game winner with 2:04 left in overtime, as Grand Blanc prevailed against Lake Orion 3 - 2 at DSC Arena on Thursday. Neither team got the puck past the goalie in the first period. In the second period, the offenses finally got going when Grand Blanc outscored Lake Orion two to one and took the lead. Lake Orion tied the score in the third period with one goal forcing overtime. In the overtime, Grand Blanc scored one unanswered goal to win the tough game.

In the second period, Lake Orion made it happen on the ice when Mark Nylen scored a goal with an assist from Kurt Latshaw, with 14:49 left in the period. Grand Blanc responded when GRAHAM JACKETT scored a goal with an assist from LUKE DEVEREAUX with 3:03 left on the clock, tying things up. Continuing the roll, TIM HASSELBACH put the puck in the net with an assist from ZACH GRUNKEMEYER with 0:02 left in the period, to move ahead. In the third period, pushing back, Lake Orion's Drew Casey scored a goal with an assist from David Otto, with 8:37 left on the clock, to make the score even. In overtime, on the flip side, Grand Blanc's ALEX PORTER got the puck in the goal with assists from GRAHAM JACKETT and JACK CLARY, with 2:04 left on the clock, assuming the lead for the win.

Drew Casey and Mark Nylen each added one goal for Lake Orion.

Despite having a huge impact in the game, Lake Orion's Logan Aldrich had 41 saves for the loss.

Grand Blanc ended the game with a record of 17 wins and 8 losses. Lake Orion finished the game with a record of 10-12.
