Lakeland hockey showed up big last season with a 15-7-3 overall record and a division title along the way.

The Eagles return 10, with experienced players back in all three phases.

Between the pipes will be senior Adam Szymanski and junior Brandon Pomerleau.

Nolan Johnson is back at forward for his senior campaign as a captain after leading the team in scoring the past two years.

Also back at forward are senior captain Nic Fernandez and juniors Bryant Cohen, Blake Kocsis, Matthew Kovach and Nick Langley.

Holding down the defensive duties will be senior captain Joey Blackwell and junior Brendan Lewis.

"We have a great core of returning players and have added some talented players that we expect to contribute," coach Tim Ronayne said. "Our leadership from our seniors appears to be strong and headed in the right direction.

"We strive to be the best on the ice and in the classroom. If the players can achieve that, then we as coaches have done our job."

The Eagles open their season with the ultimate road trip. They'll play at Sault Ste. Marie this weekend, taking on Big Rapids on Friday and the host team on Saturday.

Lakeland will play four road games before the first home game Dec. 5 against the Bay Area Thunder. The first division game comes Dec. 10, also at home against Waterford United.

The Eagles also play Milford twice: Dec. 20 on the road and Jan. 31 at Lakeland Ice Arena.
