Dow High beat the host Tri-Valley Titans 3-1 in nonleague hockey at the Midland Civic Arena on Wednesday.

The Chargers (16-7-1) led 1-0 after a first-period goal from Alex Farrell, assisted by Cole Smith and John Wilson.

The Titans tied it up in the second, but Dow regained the lead later in that period with a goal from Travis Nemeth, assisted by Brett Brillhart and Andrew Michalowski.

In the third, Smith scored on assists from Nick Sleeper and Wilson for the final margin.

“We played pretty well,” said Dow coach Dick Blasy. “We had a bit of a lull in the second, but we just had to continue to put pucks on the net. We’ve had some trouble scoring as of late with a lot of shots off posts and empty nets. Sometimes, you just have to crash the net and (find a way to score) and keep it simple.”

Seamus Belisle had 13 saves in goal for Dow.

The Chargers conclude their regular season at home against Big Rapids on Friday.
