Andrew Broyles stopped all 25 shots he faced to help Livonia Churchill register an impressive 5-0 victory over host Milford on Saturday.

"Overall, I'm pleased with how our game got progressively better," said Churchill head coach Jason Reynolds. "I thought we allowed Milford to dictate the pace of the game in the first period, which isn't acceptable to us. We prefer to allow our speed and intensity to set the tone for every game we play. We reinforced that goal during the first intermission, and once we set our pace for the second period, I think that allowed us to pull away."

The shut-out was extra special given that the Chargers' defense has been decimated by injury and illness.

"We were shorthanded tonight on the blue line," Reynolds added. "Danny Carey hasn't returned from his preseason wrist injury, and Matt Gibboney is down with the flu this weekend. Credit goes to some of our depth players, like Connor Craig and Daniel Dawes, for stepping up defensively to keep us in the game."

"Overall, we've really restored some team confidence over the last couple of games. The upcoming week will be challenging, with two strong conference opponents. Confidence will only carry us so far. We'll need to be ready to compete at a high level."

Five different Chargers scored goals. Conor Burnette led the balanced attack with the first net-finder of the night at the 9:09 mark of the first period. He was assisted by Josh Friend and Seth Kucharczyk.

The Chargers put a head-lock on the result with three second-period goals. Nolan Cioch tallied a short-handed lamp-lighter (from Dawes), before Michael Papaioannou made it 3-zip off assists from Griffin Ahmet and Joe Wozniak.

Tyler Haydu's goal (from John Doyle and Jordan Venegoni) capped the decisive middle stanza for the winners before Kucharczyk added some icing to the victory cake with a goal from Connor Craig.
