Rangers Celebrate Senior Night With 5-0 Thrashing Over Rockford

Rockford and Forest Hills Central met for the 2nd time in an OK Conference Tier I tilt with the Rangers squeaking a one goal victory out in their first meeting earlier in the season.

This game had a lot of meaning as the Rangers were honoring their 13 Seniors and parents who have led the team both on and off the ice in a fantastic manner.

After an emotional pre game celebration the Rangers came out flying jumping out to a 2-goal lead after the 1st period. Jacob Demeter opened the scoring 3-minutes into the game after Zak Currie slid the puck over to Nicko Withey who found Demter wide open back door for a 1-0 Ranger lead. Zak Currie would once again find the score sheet as he buried a Power Play goal after being set up by Mackey Withey and Nick Sarjeant. Drake Deering turned aside all 9-shots he faced in the 1st period.

The second period continued with the Rangers putting offensive pressure on the Rams. Nicko Withey scored the Rangers 2nd Power Play goal with assists going to brother Mackey Withey and Nick Sarjeant for a 3-0 Ranger lead. Nicko Withey would extend the lead to 4-0 after being set up nicely from Zak Currie and Nick Sarjeant. The Rangers would add one more in the 2nd period as Jacob Demeter would score his 2nd goal of the game with assists going to Charlie Brewer and Connor Foresman for a 5-0 Ranger lead after 2-periods. Shots after two periods favored the Rangers 26-9.

Both teams battled defensively in the 3rd period with Senior Drake Deering turning aside 21 shots for the game earning the shutout. With the win the Rangers improved to 20-1-2 on the season and 10-0 in conference play.
