Dow High shut out visiting Big Rapids 2-0 in nonconference hockey to close out the regular season on Friday.

Joey Johnson scored for the Chargers in the first period off of assists from Nathan Painter and Alec Newton. The game’s only other goal came on an empty-netter by Josh Storer from Brendan Holbrook late in the third.

Dow goalie Jeremy Slasor had 20 saves.

The Chargers (15-9-1) will open Division 2 pre-regional play against the Bay Area Thunder in Gladwin on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
