Hartland Senior Jake Behnke

A member of the 2018 Division-II state champions, Behnke led the Eagles in scoring with 32 goals and 53 points this season. He had a point in 17 of Hartland’s final 18 games down the stretch, including two goals and an assist in the the team’s 4-2 win over Trenton in the state final. It is the third consecutive year that an Eagle has been named to the Dream Team, as Behnke follows in the footsteps of teammate Josh Albring (2017) and Luke Cowan (2016).

Brighton Senior Adam Conquest

A three-year player for coach Paul Moggach, Conquest reached career highs in goals (25) and points (46) during his senior season with the Bulldogs. The NCAA Bowling Green commit helped Brighton to back-to-back Division-I state championships, picking up a goal and an assist in the 2-1 semifinal game in which the Bulldogs handed Detroit Catholic Central its first loss to an in-state school.

Detroit Catholic Central Senior Brendan West

Averaging two points per game while playing the toughest schedule in MI-HS hockey (according to MyHockeyRankings.com), West totaled 21 goals and 60 points in 29 games this season. The forward picked up a point in 18 consecutive games, which was one of the longest streaks by any player this season. It is the first time since 2014 (Defenseman Carter Cerratani) that a Shamrock has been named to the Dream Team.

Livonia Stevenson Senior Jake Beaune

One of the leading scorers in the state among defensemen, Beaune paced the Spartans with 22 goals and 46 points this season, with 11 points coming in the playoffs. The third-year captain had 13 multi-point games from the blue line and produced 10 power-play goals. It is the sixth time in six years that a Spartan has been named to the Dream Team, with Beaune being the third defenseman from the program to receive the honor.

Brighton Junior Tim Erkkila

For the third time in five years, the Dream Team features a pair of Brighton Bulldogs, as Erkkila joins teammate Adam Conquest on this list. Also, for a fourth consecutive year, at least one underclassman is named as Erkkila’s seven goals and 45 points earned him the honor to go along with a Division-I state championship this season. Erkkila tallied 11 points during Brighton’s playoff run and the team posted an 18-3-1 record in games when he recorded at least one point.

Detroit Country Day Junior Sam Evola

For a second straight year, the Dream Team will feature not one, but two underclassmen as Evola stands as the lone player from Division-III on the list. Named Mr. Hockey for 2018, the junior goaltender posted a 24-2-0 overall record and rattled off 20 wins in a row, leading Detroit Country Day to its first state championship in 37 years. Evola’s .954 save percentage was the best among MI-HS goaltenders, and the Yellowjackets as a team unofficially tied a state record for lowest goals-against average (1.13) for a single season by surrendering just 35 goals in 31 games.
