Line change proving to be a boon for Blue Devils

GAYLORD – The scary thing is the Gaylord hockey team is still building its chemistry.

Before the winter break, the Blue Devils finally put together line combinations that worked well for them. And they haven’t lost a game since.

One of those lines, which features forwards Gabe Kleinsorge, Jon Allen and Colton Hurst, accounted for all of Gaylord’s goals during its 7-2 win Friday over Big North rival Cadillac, the first game back from vacation.

Allen, who joined the team in December, had a seven-point game, including a hat-trick and the opening goal just 31 seconds in. Hurst added two goals and three assists, while Kleinsorge had two goals and one assist.

“The story is our first line,” coach Jamie Voss said. “They’re starting to really get their groove on and their chemistry going. We were just talking in the locker room about how I don’t know who can skate with them in the state.”
