FHNE alum set to compete at World University Games

On Wednesday, USA Hockey announced its 22-man roster for the 2019 Winter World University Games in Russia next month. Among those to make the roster were 23-year-old Sam Rennaker (Forest Hills Northern-Eastern, 2013) and fellow MI-HS alum Dominic Moore (Brownstown Woodhaven, 2014), as the two will represent their country in March .

Rennaker is a senior at the University of Maine, where he transferred in the offseason after spending his first three NCAA seasons with Niagara. The Grand Rapids native appeared in 82 games for the Purple Eagles, scoring 16 goals and 26 points before transferring the Maine in Hockey East.

Moore, a junior forward on Adrian College's  ACHA Division-I team,  will also skate for Team USA after playing in 81 games, totaling 45 goals and 109 points in his three seasons for the Bulldogs.

“This group has a lot of talent and character,” said Roger Grillo (North Kingstown, R.I.), head coach of the 2019 U.S. Men’s National University Team. “We’re really excited to get over to Russia and represent the United States with pride at the Winter World University Games.”

Team USA opens the tournament in Krasnoyarsk against the Czech Republic on Friday, March 1, at 4:00 a.m. ET. For the complete roster, CLICK HERE
