Behind strong defense and stellar goaltending the Rockford Rams won the Big  Rapids holiday tournament.  On Friday night, the Rams beat Jackson Lumen Christi 5 to 1 led by Tanner Vesche who had four points on the evening.  In Saturday's championship match up, Rockford faced the Soo Blue Devils who beat the Big Rapids Cardinals 4-2 the previous evening.   After a scoreless 1st period the Blue Devils scored 2 quick goals to start the 2nd period before Rockford responded with a goal of their own by Conner Foss. A minute after cutting the lead to one goal, the Rams found themselves on a five minute power play.  Rockford scored three power-play goals over the next five minutes to take a 4-2 lead. Rockford would add 1 more power play goal with 30 seconds left in the period. The Blue Devils came out strong in the 3rd period out shooting the Rams but net minder Brendan Coolbaugh was up to the task stopping all 14 shots. For the game he made 31 saves.  The Rams enter the holiday break with a record of 8-2 and play their next game on January 9th against East Grand Rapids in the Walker Classic.
