Colonials Land Commitment From Stevenson Alum
On Monday, Jake Beaune (Livonia Stevenson, 2018) was one-of-two defensemen from the Class of 2018 to make a verbal commitment to a Division-I program. The Livonia native announced on Twitter his intentions to join Robert Morris University next fall for the 2021-22 season, just hours after his former Team Michigan teammate David Breazeale (Grandville, 2018) committed to Lindenwood University.

Beaune played three seasons for Stevenson, winning three regional championships and making it to the Division-II state championship game as a sophomore in 2016. The 2000-birth year prospect signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Aberdeen Wings during his senior season, where Beaune scored 22 goals and 46 points in 29 games, and was named to the 2018 Dream Team.
After graduation, Beaune played two seasons for the Wings, scoring 13 goals and 39 points in 90 games while serving as team captain his second year with the program. Following the conclusion of the 2019-20 season, he was selected by the Lincoln Stars in the third round of the United States Hockey League (USHL) Entry Draft, where he played his third and final season of junior hockey. In 46 games for the Stars, Beaune had posted seven goals and 16 points before making his verbal commitment to RMU this week.
The commitment locks up a second MI-HS alum on the blue line for the Colonials and their Class of 2021. Caden Lewandowski (University Liggett, 2019) verbally committed to RMU in December, and between him and Beaune, the pair will provide plenty of size on the back end at 6-foot-4 and 6-foot-3 respectively.
Grandville Grad Commits To NCAA’s Newest Division-I Program
On February 4th, it was reported that Lindenwood University would become the NCAA’s newest Division-I program, set to begin for the 2022-23 season. Two short months later, David Breazeale (Grandville, 2018) announced his intentions of being a part of the program’s foundation, verbally committing to the upstart earlier this week.

Breazeale played three seasons for the Bulldogs, scoring 25 goals and 49 points during his high school career and going to back-to-back Division-I Frozen Fours in 2016 and 2017. The 6-foot-4 defender was also named Second-Team All-State as a junior and First-Team All-State as a senior. He also represented Team Michigan at the CCM NIT at the conclusion of both of those seasons.
After graduation, Breazeale signed a tender agreement in the summer with the Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) . There, he scored seven goals and 43 points in three seasons and is currently in the midst of the best campaign of his junior career. In 43 games, Breazeale has scored three goals and 18 points for the first-place Mudbugs, as they’ve compiled a 31-7-2 record in the South Division.
Lindenwood is located in St. Charles, Missouri, and is primarily a Division-II school. The announcement from Jeff Cox of the New England Hockey Journal comes just one year after the Centene Community Ice Center opened. This brand new facility will serve as home ice for the Lions.
