The University of Michigan Wolverines announced a 13-member class for the 2022-23 season on National Signing Day, and two of the players are Michigan high school hockey products.

Defensemen John Druskinis and Brendan Miles have both signed their National Letters of Intent for Mel Pearson’s latest recruiting class, a commitment list regarded among the best in all of college hockey.

Druskinis, a 2002 birth-year blueliner, played two seasons for Hartland High School from 2017-19, winning Division 2 state championships with the Eagles as a sophomore and junior.

He made the jump to juniors from there, splitting the 2019-2020 season with the NAHL’s Chippewa Steel and USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks.

He has since maintained a spot in the USHL, playing the 2020-21 season with Muskegon and this season with the Tri-City Storm. So far this season, he has four points and 82 penalty minutes in 31 games.

Miles, a 2001 birth-year defenseman, spent three seasons with Detroit Catholic Central, serving as a captain for the Shamrocks in his senior season. He helped DCC to a state championship in 2019 and had the team locked in for another before the 2020 MHSAA tournament was cut short due to COVID-19.

Both Druskinis and Miles also represented Team Michigan at the CCM NIT Tournament; juniors and seniors are encouraged to participate. More information can be found here.
