Orchard Lake St Marys alum Jeff Petry is returning to Michigan to continue his NHL hockey career after being traded to the Detroit Red Wings on August 15th. Petry graduated from OLSM in 2005, moving onto DeMoines in the USHL, then a 4-year career with Michigan State University. He arrived into the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers in 2010 and has been one of the most consistent right-hand shot defensemen in the National Hockey League with the Oilers, Montreal Canadiens and most recently the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Petry played for Orchard Lake St Marys from 2003 to 2005.
